We went to Yifan's(Yaya's friend in her old school) house on Saturday for his birthday. Very surprisingly, it was Rachel's(Yaya's new friend from dancing class) mom that opened the door for us. It turned out that Yifan and Rachel are neighbors! What a tiny world.
There were 7 kids all together, 4 boys and 3 girls, Peter and Yifan's sister being the yougest two who are still under 2. All the others were all old enough to run up and down, in and out of the house, and no one needed much attention. As a result, we parents had a great time eating hot spot (Awww, so yummy...), and talking whatever we wanted. It was a very good gathering.
One thing we did not expect to happen was that Yaya and Rachel cried once at the same time because the boys claimed that they would not want to play with girls. The wired part was that they chose to go to the other bedroom and cried on the bed, instead of asking for help from adults. Anyway, it was not very long later though they somehow figured out a peaceful way to hang out, and we did not hear much complaint ever since. Yaya, once again, showed us how comfortable she could be around her friends, and her laughing sounded like so much joy to me. Peter, on the other hand, made us leave at 5pm because of his fussiness from lack of nap.
When Yaya finally came home around 6:30pm, she proudly told us how well she played with Rachel and Yifan after we left and how she told Hairong(our friend who nicely sent her home) that she wanted to come home. No tears! Well, thinking about all of these times that she has happily stayed in friends' house without us around, I realize that my little girl is becoming more and more independent. I am happy for her, but at the same time, I feel a little scared to think that soon she will no longer need her mommy.
