Learning about coins

Wednesday Yaya got a sheet from school about coins. When we got home, she became very interested in those pictures and the fact various values that different coins could represent. She strongly requested me to give her some real coins. It was so much fun to see her with so many questions and listen to my explanation very attentively. I guess I was touched by her enthusiasm and instead of fixing dinner, I began to sit on the floor with her and talked about the difference between quarters and nickels, dimes and pennies. It was amazing how fast she could grasp the concept and moved on. Within half an hour, I was out of the game. She soon successfully sorted and counted all the different coins she had. She was even able to finishe the questions on her sheet with no help at all. This morning, I happened to notice that she took a penny and a dime with her to school.

When a kid is into something, it is just scar9ly amazing how far he/she can go.
