I wrote about Peter's obsession and agressive behavior months ago, like he used to yell or hit because his sister was playing with other kids or he fought for toys, food, even the occasional biting. But then, he seemed to realize little by little the idea of "sharing" and "taking turns", "be nice" became one of his favorite words. There's barely any fightings at home and he turned into a very gentle kid.
This happened last Sunday when we took him to the park. It was an unusually warm and sunny day, therefore the playground was "boiled" with a lot of kids. Peter was busy enjoying up and down the stairs and slides when I noticed there was a little boy of similar age seemed to be very interested in following him around. Then, when Peter came to sit with me around the curb to rest, the little guy, as well as his mother, came along too. The mom was holding a toy rake in her hand, and Peter approached her, wanted to play. While that mom intended to hand it over, her son ran up and took it away before Peter could get a hand on. Peter was a little upset, but was OK when I told him we had the shovel and rake in the car. Later, Lei came up and handed the shovel and rake to Peter, in the mean time, the little boy threw his toy away and tried to grab one out of Peter's hand. Instead of acting being irritated as he used to, Peter handed one of his toy to that little boy and said "SHARE". Of course the little boy soon wanted to try the other one, Peter just calmly gave it to him and picked up the one dropped on the ground. Wow, I was amazed, and so was the other mom.
