I got Yaya a new Disney Princess DVD the other day, and unexpectedy inside the package there was a toy necklace with a cinderella pendant. Yaya wore it to school yesterday. So this morning, Yaya said"mommy, all the girls in my class want to have this necklace..." "I did not pay much attention at first. Soon I realized that she was asking me to give all her friends the same necklace. I said "no". "why?" she is not used to being rejected by me. "I can not do that because I do not have that much money..." "Yes, you do. but can you please at least one of them?"She withdrawed a little. Unforunately, I said "NO" again. "Why?" She got a little upset. ----As a side story, Yaya has been taking a lot of small hair accessories that my mom got her last summer when we visited China to her classmates at previous school, which I did not say anything against it back then, since, you know, we did have more than she can used up.---Later, I told her it was not my responsiblity to buy her friends stuff, but she could surely let them know where we got it so that her friends would be able to buy it if their moms agree. Finally she seemed to be OK.
This reminded me one thing I did when i was young (in preliminary school). I had a very good friend at shool. One day, my mom was showing me two new shirts she bought, one for my sister and one for me. They were pink and very pretty in my eyes. Then I asked my mom if she could buy one for my friend as well, of course my mom said no. Oh, you won't believe how mad and upset I was. Because that was the first time that I realized that "my mom is not a perfect person, she is selfish and only buy stuff for her own kids".
Guess Yaya is sort of thinking the same thing about me now. Only difference is that she seems more mature than me at the age of 4.
