Trip to Navy Pier (Children's museum) on Saturday

Yaya's knee was hurt pretty bad last Thurday night when she tripped and there were big open wound. Therefore we decided in order to keep her from water for a few days, we came up with the idea of taking the kids downtown Chicago for the past weekend.

As usual we got up early and by 9:00am we were already on our way. The weather was nice and traffic wasn't bad, plus both kids were enjoying the car ride after a good night's sleep.

Having experienced the ultra slow checking out at the navy pier parking garage before, we chose to find a park lot somewhere on the street. After getting off lake shore drive, both Lei and I began to focus on finding a parking lot, though the kids were sort of making some excited noise in the back. It was at this intersection when Lei was honked by a car following us, and he then turned right. Not long after, we realized that we were driving on a one-way street in the WRONG direction! (The driver behind us must have been trying to remind us, but we thought...)Aww, it was really scary! Fortunately we were able to turn around soon after. But my heart did not stop beat crazily until 20 minutes later.

The kids enjoyed looking around as always when we pushed them in strollers along the street towards Navy Pier. There were already a lot of people around, riding bicycles, running, even tourists waiting for boarding onto those big boats. Before the weather really heated up, we went inside to Chicago Children's museum.

I could feel that Peter was very different from last time and was so eagar to try everything out. Talking on the phone, making pizza, driving the cars, climbing stairs, later splashing in the water.. Yaya, too, always found new fun upon each visit, had a blast. The only thing not so good was the camera--it ran out of power in less than 20 minutes. Otherwise we should have more pictures. Peter was getting tired when I noticed it was already noon.
Then we came out of the museum to get some lunch. It was just unbelivably crowded downstairs in Mcdonald's. No doubt Peter was hungry, he finished six pieces of chicken nuggets, along with some fries, and almost the whole mug of milk. Yaya was tired too, but ate only four pieces of chicken nuggets at lunch (later made up by eating more animal crackers in the car). As expected, Peter fell into nap right after we came out of the diner. We started to head back, when Yaya began to yell"I don't want to go home, I still want to have fun..." She was unusually stubborn which made me finally give up convincing her and we walked towards the car..

Once on the highway, Yaya called me, happily, "mommy, I had a great time at Chicago, I love Chicago!" Well, not a bad ending, huh?
