I sent Yaya to school on July 3rd, in spite that i was staying home with Peter. One of the reasons for doing that was I think she would have more fun at school than staying all day with me and a sick, clingy brother. But in the morning when i dropped her off, I was feeling sort of guilty because there were not as many kids. That afternoon when i picked her up as promised at 3pm, she began to talk about stuff about "July the fourth" in the car. obviously it was from her teacher and i was glad that she began to learn about this. Therefore, despite our tireness, on July 4, we decided that it was a time to give her a chance to experience some holiday atomasphere.
The town we live in is a very small one in Chicago surburd and usually you do not see many peple around. But that afternoon at the park district where the firework would take place, there were tons of people, kids. The whole afternoon was scheduled with some activities related to kids, but Yaya mainly stayed in the playground and sandbox. When it began to get dark, Yaya and daddy went up to the hill and tumbled down the hill with some kids. According to Lei, Yaya was very excited about climbing up and rolling down, until accidently hurt herself. Afterward, there were some dancing activities going on with loud music everywhere, Lei told me that Yaya was very happy about that and screamed, laughed and danced a lot. Before the fireworks began at 9:30pm, Yaya then had some fun time playing with two american boys who were sitting on the lawn close to them. Then, our little girl was obviously stunned by the lighting-up in the sky, because she cheered with the crowd the whole time. You have to know that for years, Yaya seldom stays up to 9pm, but that day she stayed active until the end of firework. Of course, once in the car, Lei said she was out within 1 minute.
