Yaya's question: Mama, why in "Michelle", "ch" sounds like /sh/, but it doesn't spell as s-h-, like in "shell", Why?
Me thinking: seriously, why? How to explain this? I know people like to start to pronounce "chicago" /sh/, more of a dialect thing. but what is with this 'michelle' thing?
Me answering: eh, maybe tomorrow we need to ask Ms. Kelly, OK?
Update: "Michelle" is a French name. Therefore the pronunciation is somewhat from French too. As for "Chicago" "michigan", they are possibly first called by French too.
