It was a big day for Yaya. She was not completely well yet, but she was too excited for the recital to stay put. It was the first time for her to perform on a real stage, and moreover, first time to have a chance to wear make-ups. She was begging me the whole morning about when i can put make-ups on her, until at last i gave up and agreed to do it. I curled her hair, put some light color on her lip and cheek, which already made her (and Lei) thrilled. Both of them were so happy and were repeating one thing called "pretty" for the rest of morning. Anyway, the whole morning was wrapped up around Yaya, even the big boy in the neighbor came to play soccer with Yaya left with his mommy before noon, so as to give Yaya time to get ready. I bet no one would be able to tell that she was sick seeing her bouncing and spinning around.

Finally I took her out of the house and she was scheduled for rehearsal at 1pm. It was very funny for me to see those little girls, each holding a pillow with bows, standing up on the stage, doing some movement. No one would ever feel disappointed for what they could not fulfil or not being like a ballerina, because it was just cute enough to have them there, in those pinky, little dresses. Somtimes they looked at each other, forgetting what to do next, sometimes they bumped into each other...Then, when it was done, Yaya was very proud that she went on the stage, she was more interested in seeing other bigger girls performance. I was not able to drag her out of the auditorium unitil after 2pm, to get daddy and brother here for her formal performance.
Once we came back for the recital, some unanticipatd problem occured. Yaya refused to sit with her class because she was scared. There were some other girl crying for mommy too, i guess that made the situation worse. But fortunately parents were at last allowed to sit with them. It was after 3 or 4 performance when Yaya begin to push me away "mommy, please go, go to your seat, I don't want you to be here anymore". Yes, she was just embeded in enjoying watching the dance, now her anxiety fade away. She then sat alone all by herself for most of the time before the teacher called her class to get on the back stage to get ready. Lei told me afterwards that he noticed that Yaya was very active then and followed the teacher right away. Well, considering her shyness, i guess sometimes the urge for something one love can truly overcome any shortcoming in personality.
Peter, on the other hand, became impatient after sitting around 1hour watching the performance, and wanted to stay out of it. But Yaya did sit there until the end of the recital. It was great because she actually got to go up again on stage to receive a medal(each dancer got one), which made her even prouder of herself.
That was that weekend. Busy but sort of refreshing. I am glad that we chose to let Yaya take part in the recital, because now we saw her "dancing" at home more often and mimicing some big girls' pose. It was fun for her and enjoyable for us.
