Yaya said..
This morning in the car, Yaya said" mommy, when i grow up, I don't want to be a mommy anymore, I want to be a teacher or a doctor, so that i can drive my car to school or a doctor's place...."
This morning when we got out of the Peter's classroom and Yaya looked through the window, she saw Peter was crawling towards the door and whining, she said"mommy, we should go back in because Peter is crying.." with that I saw her eyes turned red...
Last night when I told Peter firmly "No" and put him down onto the floor after he tried to bite me on the shoulder, Yaya stood up and told me gently"mommy, don't be mad at Peter, he is just a baby and he doesn't mean to hurt you... when he grows up, I will teach him..."
Yaya asked Lei last night right after he got home"daddy, do you want to hear a funny story about me when i was very little?" After a positive answer, Yaya used her own way of description telling Lei a whole story I told her in the car on the way home about her being scared of strangers when she was around 1. Then she analyzed the reason about her crying over seeing strangers then as "you know, i was still a baby at that time and i didn't know she was mommy's friend"..."but now, I know her and i will not cry even if someone whom I don't know comes close to me.." "Because i am a big kid now"..
I tried a couple of times to teach Yaya not to get lost from us, either in a mall or a fun place, but every time, she became so nervous and anxious. All of a sudden, last night she asked"what do you think you guys will do if I am lost?""What's your opinion?"Instead of answering, Lei asked her. "You two's hearts will be broken, right?".. Seems Yaya didn't really get it. "No, we will go to police and look for you...but first of all, we don't want to lose you..." Yaya refused to carry on this subject.
Anxiety?--out of nowhere, Yaya asked me"what if you and daddy forgot to pick me up?" "what if Willa(her teacher) took me home, but it's her home and you guys don't know where to find me?"I always tried to arrive at a certain time for pick-up, but there's one time Peter was sick in the middle of the day and I took him home first. Then Lei promised to pick up Yaya, but he got there late and Yaya, for the first and only time, was the last one in the class. Ever since then, she began to show her worries occasionally about not being picked up or being picked up late.---A lesson for us parents: never think one exception is not noticable by the kids.
